USE OF SEX SEMEN IN DAIRY COWS FOR AUTUMN CALVING IN 2020

Currently we have a demand by dairy farmers to identify cows in terms of suitability for the use of sexed semen. The Smart Scan technology from ReproDoc enables you to identify the reproductive status of your cows using additional bioinformatic data to enable us to accurately identify the best suited for sexed semen.

It is advisable to use sexed semen for the first 4 weeks of your breeding season on the bases that pregnancy rate to services will be inheritably lower when using conventional semen.

However there is the added advantage that replacement heifers can be harvested from your more fertile cows in the herd. This will automatically increase survivability of cows into the future.

In addition, these cows will have heifer calves, risk of calving difficult is reduced, with consequential positive impact on future survivability of the cows.

Finally  ensures you to increase opportunity of using beef semen on the remainder of cows at early stage of breeding programme and does increasable add value of stock sales using beef semen.
