Visited a sucker farmer in County Clare who presented 40 solar cows for scanning. Over 90% of the cows were pregnant over an 80 day breeding window. These cows are excellent mothers with cross suckling a common feature. These cows may however, lose significant body condition score dropping from 3 1/2 to 2 in the first 3 months post calving. The cows on the other hand do not go into anoestrus, they resume normal cycles by losing body condition and going back in calf successfully.
