TIPS FOR JULY 2015

Hoose or Lungworm has become prevalent in dairy herds.  You will notice cows coughing and associate it with IBR.  Addressing this issue is straight forward in terms of an oral drench.

Cows bred now will calve in the month of April 2016.  These potential late calvers are still a valuable asset on the farm so therefore every opportunity for empty cows to be bred successfully needs to be in place.

Scanning your cows now for pregnancy status will identify cows with embryonic death and enable you to get them bred successfully for April calving 2016.

Make sure your young stock are meeting growth rate targets for both weanling and maiden heifer groups.  This may mean having to purchase a weighing scales to routinely weigh stock to ensure targets are met.
