Scanning Suckler Cows Is An Excellent Approach To Fertility Test In A Stock Bull

Scanned a suckler herd consisting of 28 cows in County Cavan. 4 cows were not cycling and 4 cows were pregnant to A.I. Of the remaining 21 animals exposed to a bull, 2 were confirmed pregnant. The cows were classified as reproductively sound using scanning therefore the stock bull had to be subfertile or infertile based on an 8 week exposure period. Based on the scan results the client planned to synchronise the cows and use A.I. rather than run the risk of infertility using a stock bull.
