Once a day milking

Visited a client outside Dungarvan, Co. Waterford who presented 90 dairy cows and 30 heifers for scanning. The dairy herd was on a once a day milking system. The pregnancy rate to A.I. for the 1^st 25 days of the breeding programme was 65%. Good nutritional management for cows with a low metabolic load partially explain the high pregnancy rate achieved.
