Social isolation in rural Ireland caused in association with Covid-19.


On farm calls in counties, Leitrim, Longford and Monaghan today reveal the problems associated with social isolation. Social media and media in general have created a tremendous fear among the rural fabric of Ireland, whereby people have been scared in their senior years to move outdoors.

Unfortunately, this social isolation will be for a protracted period. We need to be aware that there are people in their senior years in need of social contact. We can achieve this social contact without endangering the risk of infection with Covid-19.

We also need to create awareness of the importance of a healthy immune system to avoid the risks associated with the infection Covid-19. Nutrition and social order benefiting human health is critical at this time point and it is essential to get the correct information to those in social contact with people in senior years to engender hope for their future well-being.
